BIO

Sage was born in the Nevada desert exactly 9 months to the day after his parents tied the knot at the Gold Hill Hotel in the old mining town of Virginia City.  Although he grew up in the Lake Tahoe region of the majestic Sierra Nevada mountain range, the desert is now where he feels most at home - thanks in large part to the heavy influence the Burning Man project has had on his life. When not working on music or performing, Sage can be found hiking and riding in the mountains, training for marathons, practicing yoga and road tripping to hot springs in the desert.

For Sage, performing is so much more than just putting on a show and entertaining - it's about telling a story.  It's about invoking emotion and enriching experiences.  It's about inspiring others to feel; to flow; to be fully present and to express themselves through movement.  It's prayer.  it's ceremony.  It's presence and freedom.  Sage was put on this Earth to make you move; and to move you.

Sage Farris' first live DJ set ever was a 4-hour marathon at Burning Man in 2016 for a party his camp hosted called “Ambush Bar”.   Following that he honed his skills and discovered his performance style playing shows in around Lake Tahoe at the American Legion, Xhale Nightclub and out under the stars at summer moonlight gatherings.   Having quickly garnered a reputation for his entertaining and diverse sets, he was soon tapped by The Loft Tahoe as their weekly Resident DJ to succeed local standout and fellow Great Awakening Artist Roger That! who had moved on to Reno to build upon his DJ/Producer career and continue the expansion of the Bass Camp brand.

2018 was a breakthrough year for Sage – with appearances at the Santa Cruz Music Festival, Serenity Gathering, Organic Fest and a Mainstage slot at SF Decompression.

2019 was a very busy year for him which he kicked off by making his House Party Reno debut in January. This monthly event experienced exponential growth during he was honored to be brought back to play a second and third time – at their 1-year Anniversary and Luau themed events.   Burning Man in 2019 brought an abundance of performance opportunities - highlighted by sets at powerhouse esplanade sound camps Slut Garden and Ali Bar-Bar; and on the legendary Airpusher Art Car.

Pandemic and all, 2020 was an incredbily productive year that included many livestream appearances including the Bay Area Dirtybird Festival; Ecstatic Dance Kansas City (3X); Take Me to Tequila: The Spicy Boys Club; Santa Cruz DJ Sessions; UnSCruz (The Santa Cruz Regional Burn); multiple sets in the Burning Man Multiverse for The Golden Gate Project and finally, on The Unicorns “Hello 2021” online celebration.  He also was blessed to play multiple small in-person socially distanced gatherings in Black Rock Desert; at Yoon Fest in the Mojave Desert as well as a support set at The Midway SF for Lee Reynolds of Desert Hearts.

2021 was incredibly productive;  the year began with him on the decks at The Bluebird Reno and this Spring he began a regular stream series - “Thumpin’ Thursdays” along with close friend and partner Mo’Steph for The Unicorns after being asked by the Diva herself, Diva Danielle, as well as a monthly in-person house music residency at Shim’s Surplus in Reno which included handing the decks off to Dirtybird co-founder Worthy.  Festival sets included The Great Awakening, SoulPlay, Starvibes, Alive in the Desert, Gaia Gathering, Maya Gathering and House Party Hangout.  He played Ecstatic Dances in Reno as well as in Salt Lake City.   He played the first Deep House Yoga event in Reno and opened for Soohan and David Starfire in Santa Cruz.  He also performed at Diplo's Menagerie at the Midway SF and was also blessed to play his first party for Space Cowboys at the Great Northern in SF.  He capped off the year playing his first party for Syd Gris' Opel Productions offering a NYE set at the legendary New Bohemia event at The Mint in SF.

2022 is already off to a fast start for Sage with a move to San Francisco and several performances including direct support for Sammy Legs in Reno and Mystic Grizzly in Lake Tahoe; as well Ecstatic Dances in Salt Lake City, Lake Tahoe and Kansas City.  His upcoming festival schedule includes Soulplay, Starvibes, For The People & UnSCruz (Santa Cruz Regional Burn).
